Chang Gyum Kim presents media installation work by projecting an image onto an object which he made himself. The image projected on the object allows the audience to get into uncontrollable confusion about the boundary between reality and fiction, and substance and non-substance. In this exhibition, the artist intends to create fake that looks like real, untruth that looks like truth, and illusion through the use of such object installations and 3 dimensional media art works. The objects Kim creates are dead objects as a means of 'still life'. However, as he attaches fantasy and amusement to the dead objects through images projected, he breathes a new life into the dead objects. Such work started from the artist's query about the truth of information overload that modern people face. As the artist represents the gap between truth and fiction about images which we acquire and get information from a variety of media through images projected onto the objects, he talks about dichotomous structure between truth and false. Recently, Kim applies 3D technology, which fascinates him about its unlimited expression beyond space and time, to his media work; Kim represents his such work in terms of dichotomy between reality (2D) and illusion (3D) by integrating 2D images of objects with 3D images.
