From Glass Flower and Crash series to Jumble Painting and Ambiguity series, Ki Beom, KWON has been working on plane and space through various works including videos, installations and photographs to break a medium limit of Korean painting. Through these fearless medium experiments, the artist continuously attempts a consideration of ‘the relationship between two contrasting notions.’ This exhibition is consists of wall-painting titled Jumble Painting and wall-installation with hanji(traditional Korean paper) painting titled Ambiguity. Jumble Painting places on the white wall and contains a shape of chaos with ink lines affected by a law of nature, gravity. The Ambiguity series shows organic form made from objects’ partial figures which are entangled and mixed. This series seems like a single shape; however, individual elements are summed up to create this one completed form. It also says that the way of organic form’s existence can’t be simply explained with a combination. In compare to the other past works that expose an opposition among the elements, his recent works, Jumble Painting and Ambiguity series, show a development and reconciliation between the opposing elements. This exhibition will show the different kinds of plastic experiments to examine the development of a collision and meeting between the elements of nature. Furthermore, it will provide the opportunity to know the directivity for his future works.
