Yeesookyung's works are within the domain of spirituality beyond rationality and emotion. Her spirituality would not be formed by a relationship with the absolute called God; it would be realized by herself only. Since 2005, Yee has done drawings with cinnabar. Cinnabar is a mineral from which pigment is derived and commonly used in paint for talismans and Buddhist paintings. When drawing, Yee escapes her conditioned thinking, breaks the boundary with the outside world, and leads herself to perception transcending the relationship of herself and others, and subjectivity and objectivity. She purses realization of her long-cherished wishes by her own power rather than purification of mind through the power of others. Her drawings, which are done in a near trance arrived at through ceaseless meditation, attach greater value to disciplinary training rather than results, and bring together images in well-defined forms and other images without form.
