Kho, who has been constructing his own unique art world since 1990’s, is renowned as a representative artist of the Korean contemporary art as well as a conceptual colorist. The Color Pause exhibition presents the artist’s major works of the past 20 years, illustrating a pause on his canvas to reflect his psychological and cultural perspectives about colors . From The Museum Project created in the mid 1990's, 'geometrical abstract work' in the mid 2000's, through 'the work translated from performances and movies into visual images', Kho shows a new phase of conceptual art by revealing the self-reference and autonomy focused on the 'colors', while involving its concept and language, thus carrying out the language translation and dissolution. The exhibition consists of three parts according to time progresses and contents as follows: Museum Project, The Adaptation of Movies and Performances, and A Painting as a Symbol of Intricacy. The Museum Project deals with Kho’s own personal interpretation and adaptation about colors through the processes such as a choice of masterpieces, analysis, translation and re-composition. The Adaptation of Movies and Performances is adapted for visual images from the narratives of movies and performances by transcending images, texts, the past and the present, and the reality and unreality. Lastly, A Painting as a Symbol of Intricacy shows the interactions between colors that become very complicated by a series of geometric and abstract paintings from the mid 2000's up to the present time.
