The Coreana Museum (Director Yoo Sangok), a project of the Coreana Cosmetics Co. Ltd., opened Space C in 2003. Three years later, with its collection consisting of over 1200 works of art, it became a registered member of the Korean Art Museum Association. Coreana Museum is a public, multi-functional art and cultural organization that collects artwork, engages in research and education, and curates exhibitions about social/cultural issues. So far, the museum has shown various exhibitions including international exhibitions on cultural codes and themes pertinent to cosmetics, femininity, the body, contemporary and modern Korean artists, solo exhibitions of mainstream artists and collection shows. In addition, it has held experimental exhibitions connected to adjacent arts, such as: theater, film and animation. With diverse exhibition practice and ardent overall support of the visual arts, Coreana sets an example of corporate commitment to culture. Recognized as a unique cultural organization bridging the traditional and the contemporary the Coreana Museum's Art and Culture complex functions not only as a centre for the production and dissemination of cutting edge contemporary art, but is also home to the Coreana Cosmetics Museum.
