[Spirit from OBJECT - Korea and Japan Exchange Exhibition] - Beak Jungki

2017-09-26

Beak Jungki is participating in ‘Spirit from OBJECT’ which held at Contemporary Art Space Osaka. In recent years, many artists have been using authentic materials such as stone, iron, Arte Povera’s experimental attempts, or using various digital media to recognize  the concept of Object. However, the representation of the work will not be realized unless you rely on concrete substances in the end. This exhibition explores the relationship of the material and the spirit’s commonalities and difference between Korean and Japanese artists’ work or their art world. Beak’s work uses 'ashes' collected at the scene of a fire accident. The artist worked on what healing means in spiritual terms. He learned about homeopathic medicine and applied it to his work. ‘Ashes’ has been transformed into a pill. This allows us to think of the true meaning of healing through the manufacture of pills that are made of the wound(ashes). The exhibition will continue until October 7.
