[Wild in Blue: Something Unseen] - Koh Sang Woo

2017-09-15

Koh Sangwoo holds his solo exhibition titled ‘Wild in Blue: Something Unseen’ at Asian Art Works, Beijing in China. The exhibition shows signature works of Koh which is photos of ‘reversing  colors’, and leads the audience to the ‘unseen’ world. Human figures in Koh’s works are blue. Yet those figures of blue skin mingle well with other objects in the works to create cinema-like, dreamy scenes. The blue skin and the red, yellow, and purple colors contrast with each other intensely in his works to make the blue color more intense and surreal. The artist shows images of reversed colors to drive audience to look for something under the surface, something behind the appearance. The closer we look into the work, the more we feel the blue is neither intense nor cold. Rather, it comes to the audience as a magically warm color that takes them to the inner stories they have not seen yet. The exhibition runs through December 12, 2017.
