[Family Report] - Insook KIM, JeongMee Yoon
2017-06-22
Insook KIM and JeongMee Yoon are currently taking parts in ‘Family Report’ at Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art. A family is a social structure that’s existence is as old as human history. As society has experienced change, the concepts and forms of a family has also changed, due to the direct correlation between them. Family Report examines how the definition of family has changed in this rapidly developing modern society through contemporary artworks which can be categorized under the theme of ‘family,’ providing viewers an opportunity to reflect on the value and meaning of family, which has been unaffected by time. Insook KIM’s work, 'Real Wedding', deals with a new start and expansion of a family through a wedding. Through this, we ask our ontological questions about 'what should be a family'. JeongMee Yoon presents the diverse aspects of today's urban people and their society, living with animals through the 'Companion Animals' series. The space in the background of the photo shows the type of family, residence style and lifestyle of contemporary Korean society. The exhibition will be held until July 9.
