The Beauty of Balance Existing among Conflicting Images_curated by Lee Ji Min
Jonak Kim was selected at the fourth Artist-in-Residence Program of the Youngeun Museum of Contemporary Art in 2003 and, after continuing to pursue his art, now remains one of the permanent past resident artists of the museum. He strikingly exposes conflicting components in his own signature manner, communicating with a broad audience through symbolic images. In recent days, the artist has boasteda highly contemporary sense of art,going beyond traditional painting through the Glint Bloom series displayinga passionate performance on a massive wood panel stretchingup to three to four meters. The common thread in his past and present works is his exquisite ability to combine the artistic ideas of the East and West, and this combination has been visually identified through a variety of materials. We hope his excellent works in the virtual exhibition venue resonatethrough this 2015 Korean Artist Project, and that this exhibition serves as an opportunity for Jonak Kim the artist to broaden his boundaries beyond Korea andonto the international stage.
